About

Dr. rer. pol. Bruce Turner is a native English speaker from the United States with extensive experience and expertise in proofreading important English-language documents and translating important German texts into English. He has lived, studied, and worked in both Germany and Switzerland, which has given him a deep understanding of both languages and cultures.

Regarding his German academic title, the abbreviation "Dr. rer. pol." is used to describe the German doctoral degree, which is equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy degree, awarded for advanced research in fields such as economics, business administration, and political science. It translates directly from Latin as "Doctor of Political/Public Affairs" and is equivalent to a Ph.D. in the United States.

Bruce began his education in English, mathematics, and science in his hometown of Mount Clemens, Michigan, USA (near Detroit), where he earned his high school diploma. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master's degree in Aerospace Management from the University of Southern California.

In Germany, Bruce worked as an electronics engineer and project manager for US government radio communication systems in Europe, and as a lecturer for management courses at the German branches of the University of Maryland and the University of Southern California, teaching US military personnel on duty and stationed in Germany. He studied economics and business administration for six semesters at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and earned a doctorate in political science (Dr. rer. pol.). His dissertation dealt with the further development of the field of business and economic planning under conditions of uncertainty of data and results.

After receiving a job offer and moving to Switzerland, Bruce was employed as a Corporate Business Planner at Sandoz AG, Basel, and at BBC Brown, Boveri & Cie AG, Baden. He also taught management and project management courses at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and at other schools and universities. At Ascom Autelca AG, Gümligen/Bern, and Swisscom AG, Bern, he was employed as a Project Manager.

He has also been employed as a German-to-English translator for a Swiss patent law firm and has provided PMP certification training to individuals and companies as a freelance trainer. Dr. Turner now focuses on his long-standing passion: proofreading important English texts and translating important German texts into English. He enjoys helping companies, organizations, and individuals communicate clearly, concisely, and naturally in the English language.
